The Palmview and Mission TX community been walking around in a heavy shock since Monday night after learning that Gilbert Govea, a well-known student-athlete from Palmview High School, tragically died in a car accident on November 17, 2025. The news moved fast online, hitting the whole Lobos Football family and leaving students, teammates and parents trying to deal with something that dont even feel real right now.

Gilbert, who played defensive tackle (DT) and was part of the Palmview High School Lobos Football program, was widely recognized as one of those kids who brought both energy and pressure on the field. Many coaches and friends keeps saying he had so much raw talent that was still opening up. And honestly, the kid wasn’t even close to his peak yet as a Class of 2026 athlete.
